Despite the delay, the finalists brought the same passion and energy that had characterised the tournament from the start, showcasing the best of youth netball talent in the city. 

The three key matches determined the first, second and third place winners, with Crusaders claiming the top spot, followed by Weltevrede in second place, Simunye securing third and Shooting Stars in fourth place.

This year’s tournament also coincided with the conclusion of Women’s Month, a time when the City celebrates the contributions of women in all sectors, including sport. 

‘The U19 Netball Tournament served not only as a platform for athletic competition, but also as a means of empowering young women through active community engagement and sportsmanship. The City is proud to be a part of increasing awareness of netball as a growing sport and providing facilities to accommodate matches,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia van der Ross.

The U19 Local Netball Tournament programme is a collaborative effort between the Recreation and Parks Department and the Cape Town Netball Federation. This partnership plays a vital role in fostering the growth of netball and ensuring that young people across the city have the opportunity to participate in the sport. 

‘This tournament has been a testament to the strength and resilience of our youth, particularly our young women, who have shown tremendous dedication and skill on the court. As we conclude Women’s Month, it is fitting that we celebrate these athletes who embody the spirit of perseverance and community,’ added Councillor Van der Ross.

The closing ceremony honoured all participants and officially announced the winners. The City of Cape Town remains committed to fostering youth development through sport and creating opportunities for young people to thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

The seven participating teams were Weltevrede, Nooitgedacht, Red Tigers, Simunye, Crusaders, Survivors and Shooting Stars.
